Who we are

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Samyeling, Delhi, was setup in 2005 but before that we were part of the Regional Youth Congress, Rohini. Since there were many confusing with Majnu ka tilla Youth with Youth at Youth Hostel, this RTYC divided into two different RTYC, one Youth Hostel RTYC which execute every year and our RTYC Samyeling Delhi, takes the full turn of 3 years, from the year 2007 Oct. So we (all new executive members) hope and pray that we would be on the line of success with support and believes from Majnu ka tilla community. 

Day by day we seem to be more active and constructive to achieve our goal that is “FREE TIBET”. With our unity and one aim, someday very soon we are going to reach the goal.

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Delhi is not the same as other RTYC all over india and aboard. This RTYC Delhi is one of the main transits for all our RTYC branches and even to TYC, our head office. Since Delhi is capital of India we have all the activities kept on going until Tibet is Free. As a result we the RTYC Delhi has the most hardest work of all. Like storming the china embassy, if new delegates arrives or any china business summits take place etc..

RTYC Delhi is the most active among all the RTYC all over the world. So we need  supports and faith from each and every Tibetan People.

Aims and Objectives

Members of TYC accept to perform the following tasks :

To dedicate oneself to the task of serving one's country and people under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Spiritual and Temporal Ruler of Tibet.

To promote and protect national unity and integrity by giving up all distinctions based on religion, regionalism or status.

To work for the preservation and promotion of religion and Tibet's unique culture and traditions.

To struggle for the total independence of Tibet even at the cost of one's life.

TYC also organises cultural exhibitions and festivals to create awareness among the people of the world of Tibet's culture. Social & Educational: TYC engages in a wide variety of activities aimed at helping those in need and alleviating some of the most urgent social and educational problems. These range from organisms broom squads to building public toilets, conducting health education programmes to blood donation, holding adult education classes to starting schools and planting trees

Tibet's complete domination by the communist china has in 1950's has marked the the worst tragedy of the mordern world. subsequent oppression of the Tibetan people and the brutal coloisation of tibe forced His Holiness The Dalai Lama to flee Tibet and seek asylum in India in 1959. Eighty thousand helpless tibetans followed Him to seek refugee from the ruthless onslaught of communist chinese. In exile, the Dalia Lama began to concieve a seed for future Tibet and ventured to lay a firm foundation to reconstruct the lost identity of Tibet. The year 1970 was a time when TIbet was totally shut off to the rest of the world, suffering, sadly and unnoticed, from the chinese repression in the full swinng with executions and class cleansing purges. For the exiles also, those were difficult times and there was little awareness and support for the TIbetan issue in the world. But the 1970 also marked the fruition of His Holiness's optimism and the birth of a new brand of young Tibetans, equipped with modern education and inspired by their dreams for an independent Tibet: it coalesced into a movement called Tibetan Youth Congress.

The TYC was formally founded at a conference of tibetan youths in Dharamsala, India on October 7, 1970 attended by 315 delegates from various Tibetan settlements in India and Nepal. The idea and the initiative to launch the movement was taken by the four young government staff and students at that time: Tenzin Gyeche Tethong, Sonam Topgyal, Tenzin Namgyal Tethong and Lodi G Gyari. His Holiness the Dalia Lama blessed the gathering of the youths; the pioneers of the movement advising " establish your present will and determination like a mountain". The members resolved to struggle for the cause of Tibet under the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in the spirit of national unity , to peserve and promote Tibetan cultural and religion and to lay downn their lives, if necessary, in order to regain TIbetan Independence.

The TYC has emerged the most effective and important political organisation all over the world to unite the Tibetan community inside and outside India for the restroration of independence of Tibet including the all three provinces ( U-tsang, Do-Toe and Do-Mae). TYC an independent organisation, has written a complete constitution with clearly outline goals. With 30,000 memebers in 78 chapters in close to 11 countries world wide.

TYC has also provided a training ground for the most leaders in Tibetan community. Many of the Leaders in Tibetan society has been once linked with the TYC organisation.More importantly, TYC has also provided non partisan furum to mobilise young ad old, men and women, nuns and monks in the struggle for independence. This in itself has generated respect, recognition and support.

Through its relentless campaign, sacrifies and dedicaton, TYC has earned recogninition by the international media and political circles in many countries as an important voice of the Tibetan people. An indication of the success and effectiveness of TYC is also reflected in China's strong criticism, not only of the policies and activities of TYC but also of its very existence.
